| From Baseball's Canadian-American League by David Pietrusza: Located in Parc Victoria, Quebec’s Municipal Stadium was largely a carbon copy of the Three Rivers field, not only in name, dimensions, and exterior facade, but also in that it was also used again in the Provincial and Eastern leagues. There was one significant difference, however: Quebec had a larger seating capacity—7,500 to just 6,000 in Three Rivers. “Outside of the Quebec City ballpark,” recalls Guy Barbieri, “was a convent, and we could see nuns watching the ball game from way out there. The Quebec City ballpark was enclosed all the way around. It was a nice stadium.” “The Prime Minister of Quebec,” adds Spencer Fitzgerald, “he built Sorel, Quebec, and Three Rivers, all about the same time. The three would be identical.” “It was all concrete stands,” adds Quebec Braves hurler “Moose” Erickson. “It was built like most good ballparks were built, like a stadium. The field was down a little lower, and the fans were kind of up and as far as the ballpark was concerned it was a fine ballpark to play in especially for that type of league.” |
